Dear Misti,

My friends are guilty of being like every other parent around, their kid is so cute he should be in pictures.  They took “Bob” to an agency that their friend recommended.  This friend had a daughter that had gotten a couple of print ad jobs through this agency.

My friends drove about 90 miles roundtrip twice a week for classes that were required through the agency and they spent an outrageous amount for pictures that the agency photographer took.  “Bob” was in one photo shoot up in Flagstaff, AZ that my friends had to rent a tux for.  They have never seen the ad and they were never paid for it.  AND THEN THEY TRIED TO TALK ME INTO HAVING THIS AGENCY REPRESENT MY CHILDREN!!!

I am a mother of three kids.  I would love someone to tell me that my children are the cutest they have ever seen and they should be on magazine covers, but I am also realistic.  I knew there had to be a better way of getting my children in a commercial or film then what my friends went through.

I ended up on a mailing list and received a simple invitation to the Actors and Models First Steps First Hand seminar.  Being skeptical I left my credit cards and check book at home and attended the seminar.  The guest speaker was Mrs. Dani Green who was very informative and personable.  She covered various scams, how to do your research, and reputable photographers and agencies.  She answered all our questions and we received a booklet with samples of what she spoke of which became my “Acting Bible”.

I am delighted to say that Dani’s Agency listed my son when we happened to walk in during an audition for his age group and he was a perfect fit for the commercial they were casting.  Not only had I not paid big bucks for an agency and pictures but HE got paid to do the commercial.  My total cost ended up being about $10 including parking, mileage, my film, developing, lunch, etc.  His big sister is also represented by Dani’s Agency and is currently doing films and plays.

I could have been very easily scammed into paying large sums of money and driving my children all around the state.  I couldn’t be happier with the information I received from the Actors and Models First Steps First Hand seminar.  I don’t suggest an agency to my friends that think their kids are the cutest on the planet.  I suggest they attend the Actors and Models First Steps First Hand seminar to learn the proper way of getting into “the biz”.

Thanks,

Kelly McGinley
